AMS-Southeast 2024 spring meeting

The Southeast Chapter of the American Musicological Society will hold its Spring 2024 meeting hosted by Wake Forest University on Saturday, February 24.

Click to view or download the AMS-SE Spring 2024 Conference Program. The event will feature a joint presentation by Dr. Elizabeth Clendinning and Dr. Andrew Gurstelle on the Wake Forest collection of musical instruments in the Museum of Anthropology.

We're also trying something new this spring and encourage you to register for the conference. This should expedite the registration process the morning of the 24th and provide us with an accurate headcount leading up to the event. While the registration is free, we also encourage you to make sure that you are a paid member of AMS-SE ($15), which you can do during the online registration process. Registration link: https://forms.gle/4MRWWMTiNUVedDNRA

Please be advised of the proposed changes to the AMS-SE Bylaws.

take note!

The Spring Meeting of the Southeast Chapter of the American Musicological Society will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Wake Forest University.

Parking and Local Arrangements: Wake Forest campus map download. The conference will be held in the Lam Museum of Anthropology, located in Palmer Hall at 1315 Carroll Weathers Drive on the Wake Forest University Reynolda Campus. The campus map notes the building's location and the free parking directly in front of it. We encourage you to enter campus via University Parkway. Signs near the campus roads will direct you to the correct building.

Lodging: AMS-SE suggests that you book hotels sooner rather than later as there is also an important basketball game at Wake Forest on February 24th. We invite you to come in a day early and attend the Secrest Artist Series concert, featuring violinist Rachel Podger, at 7:30pm on Friday, February 23rd. Your ticket will be discounted 20% as a conference attendee (see PDF).

Student Presentation Award: All student members of the AMS Southeast Chapter whose papers are accepted to the meeting are encouraged to apply for a Student Presentation Award. To be considered for this award, student presenters must submit a complete draft of their paper to the chapter president via e-mail no later than twenty-four hours prior to the conference or provide three paper copies to the president the morning of the conference.
